Oolan recipe by Preetha


Take 1 medium sized tender yellow pumkin (Mathanga) .Peel the skin off the pumpkin…cut it into medium sized pieces. Cook 1 cup red payar(van payar) in a cooker till it is done….

To a pan pour some water + sliced pumpkin + 7-8 splitted green chillies + curry leaves +salt to taste..cover it and cook for some time…

When it starts boiling..half cooked….add the cooked payar with its retained water….and cook well till the water level is reduced well..

Once it is cooked well…reduce the flame and add 1-2 cup of thick coconut milk…don’t allow to boil …just keep it in low flame..

At last add 1-2 spoon of plain coconut oil into it…and close it…

Olan ready!!

Optional : If needed carrot can be added with pumpkin…athokke ishtam pole J
